The first Campaign is 'Selena Gomez Dream out loud' of her clothing line. The main model is standing in a way how she stands out from her friends this is because she is in the middle and she only has the direct mode of address to the camera. In the first photo, her facial expression is with a side smile looking like she is enjoying her time with her friends. The location is set in the park and the connotation of that is it shows us what average teenager would do. She is in a group with her friends talking and one of the models is laughing, making it look like she is happy around her friends. The narrative in the video is her and a bunch of friends talking and playing outdoor games and having fun. The clothing is suitable for average teenagers and its target market, as it is wearable in everyday life. The props that were used were outdoor props e.g. big balls, balloons, Frisbee. The colour scheme is green to show the summer collection it is suitable as it’s for summer also its bright as little children and teens like bright things and it attracts the audience. The name of her brand looks like it was stamped on, this makes it different from other brands. The logo is of a bird making it suitable for the target market as it looks natural and to do with nature. The first picture is zoomed out with her friends in the picture, the second picture is zoomed into her face showing the hat that she’s wearing, the third picture is of Selena and her friends huddled together laughing, this makes the audience want to be like her as she is seen an idol to young teenagers and girls. In all three of their pictures she has a direct mode of address. In the advertisement it shows she’s laughing and lying down and having a picnic also running around with her friends enjoying herself with outdoor activities. The Maslow is to aspire and to have fun while you can with your friends also it is testimoial because she uses her self a famous person to sell .
The product is mainly aimed at young girls and teenagers (Age 8-17) who live in an average world with prices that are affordable. Anyone can buy her clothes .They idolise Selena Gomez and want to be like her, so they will believe that buying her clothing, you can be like her too, you'll enjoy yourself just like she did with a bunch of friends. In the advert it tells you were you can but the clothes from and freezes during the middle she were different outfits and tells the price, the writing is in yellow and looks like someone has scribbled it down. In the poster one, at the bottom it tells the price, and the website. On the second poster it tells her brand name in bold writing and who the brand is by and her logo and k mart on the side, the 3rd poster it tells the logo and the shop also the price. The lifestyle of the buyer will be a teenager and young people who get money from parents and like to look good even with a bargain of a price. The buyer will love to read teen magazines and will be smart and her favourite film will be Monte carol staring Selena Gomez.
The advert is mainly appealed at young teenagers and Selena Gomez's fans. The advert has used stereotyping by because it is easy identifiable e.g. is of teenagers running around and girls having a laugh. The advert is signified of green this is a connotation of summer, fresh air, nature and hot weather.
In the advert it is doesn't really show how men and women are separated as in the advert Selena Gomez is with a bunch of girls and boys showing it is fun being around your friend. Selena Gomez's body position on the first poster is of her looking cool with her hand in her pocket and another model on the right looking down the first one to the left is laughing an looking at her fingers the last one on the left is looking at Selena Gomez this puts all of them together to show their having a good time and having a lath. Second poster is Selena is showing direct mode of address with her hair on little bit on the edge making it seem the wind is doing that her mouth is open a bit and her eyes squinting making her look mysterious and she was just walking. The last poster is of Selena huddling up with her friends, Selena is smiling with her head sticking out, the girl on the right is looking at Selena making it seem as she is talking to Selena, the model on the left is looking at the camera as well with her hand near her chest making it seem it was a little shock. The demographics is K. I.P.P.E.R , this is because the teenagers are not financially sorted as they do not work and ask their parents for money.
The Advertising appeals to a young children and teenagers. The advert is bandwagon, by showing their in a gang, it shows Selena Gomez and a bunch of her friends showing off their cloths and having fun. Selena Gomez uses her star power to sell her clothing line, she knows that by her wearing the cloths will sell more and her fans will buy it. The Ideology is that the clothing is wearable anywhere and is comfortable to do anything in, also to look good at the same time. Selena Gomez also plays her own soundtrack at the background to advertise her music at the same time. As well as it her fans will know that it is her clothing line is showing on TV even if someone was blind and they heard Selena Gomez’s music they will know that it is Selena is on TV.
The Pack shot of the advert is close up of Selena and her friends, it freezes during the point there is Selena changing in different clothes and has the pricing this is a connotation of showing it is affordable prices and suitable for the target market example a child wants to buy Selena Gomez’s clothes and tells her parents she wants to buy her clothes? And the parent says its too expensive because it is but Selena Gomez. the child can show the advert by showing the price it will not only show that it is affordable for the parents to buy the child the clothing but can make the buyer can feel that Selena also were clothes that are not expensive and feel more connected to her.
As I said that Selena uses her sound track on the advert ( Round and round) that was for voice-over however she put in some laughter at the background so she could show that she's having fun. At the end she has a dialogue and says her brands name and consumers can buy it from.
The ideology of the advert is of normal average any social grade people can buy this but mostly targets the social grade of C2 and lower as it is Selena Gomez is showing herself as a normal average teenager and this is reflected on the people of C2 and lower social grade people. The mise - en - scene is in a park where is very green and to do with her logo the bird, this represents nature. There were many props used as I said before balloons est. There were different roles in the advert for different people example Selena Gomez was main model so she had be in the camera for most of the time and the other models were the extras in the background to show that Selena has many friends and looking good while having fun is very import. Selena Gomez in control of the whole advert. This is because the brand is hers and by her advertising it, it will help her sales high and everyone will know that she had made the clothing line. The advert doses stereo type teenagers a little because people expect them to stay in gangs and go wild however it does also show that teenagers having a picnic and playing outdoor games which is most often (hardly ever) seen as what teenagers do. Unconventional life style is represented through this advert but making it costumers believe buying her cloths will make you feel very much like her, and you can also have the life she has shown on the advert.
Goffmans Theory states that men are shown in a dominated position and appear to be intelligent, whereas women’s are in a sexual or reclining pose with a blank or inviting expression. It also states that products use females for their boy parts such as legs, chest etc. are used rather than their full body. To sell products (Dismemberment). It also says that the voice over authority is mostly men in commercials.
Goffmans Theory does not appeal to my advert as it is aimed at a younger audience so there should not be any sexual appeal and no rivalry between the two sexes. In Selena Gomez’s advert there is no sexism as everyone is treated the same and no one is not left out. This because Selena Gomez has a big fan base are mainly under the age of 18 and that sexism is not something to teach under 18's.
